Deputy Minister delighted with private schools’ O-NET scores being higher than national average

Deputy Minister of Education, Kanokwan Vilawan, revealed the Ordinary National Education Test (O-NET) results of 2019 academic year; the 6th graders’ (Prathom 6) average scores in all subject tests ranked higher than the national average; the 9th graders’ (Mathayom 3) English and Math scores and the 12th graders’ (Mathayom 6) English scores exceeded the national average.

The Deputy Minister expressed her admiration for the private schools’ administrative board, teachers and personnel for consistently maintaining the educational standards, particularly the 6th graders’ average scores which ranked higher than the national average in four subject tests (Thai, English, Maths and Sciences). By allowing the Office of the Private Education Commission (OPEC) to analyze the current O-NET test results, schools can benefit from the analysis by strengthening and improving on the right focus areas; for instance, the mathematical topics on data analysis, probability and measurement, of which students’ average scores were the lowest across the three grade levels; for the sixth grade, the lowest average score was in the scientific learning areas of Space and Astronomy; the 9th graders’ lowest average scores were also in the Science subject, particularly in the field of Force and Movement; lastly, the 12th graders’ scored the lowest average in the scientific topic of the Earth’s Changing Process.

Following this test result announcement, the Deputy Ministry has requested a discussion between OPEC and the Office of the Non-Formal and Informal Education to drive the learning of sciences and space in Science Center for Education across Thailand, as well as Bangkok Planetarium which contain the body knowledge of sciences and astronomy for students’ learning development.

นางกนกวรรณ วิลาวัลย์ รัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงศึกษาธิการ เปิดเผยผลการทดสอบทางการศึกษาระดับชาติขั้นพื้นฐาน (O-NET) ปีการศึกษา 2562 ของนักเรียนโรงเรียนเอกชนว่า ผลสอบชั้น ป.6 มีคะแนนเฉลี่ยทุกวิชาสูงกว่าระดับประเทศ ชั้น ม.3 คะแนนวิชาภาษาอังกฤษและคณิตศาสตร์ และชั้น ม.6 คะแนนภาษาอังกฤษ สูงกว่าค่าเฉลี่ยระดับประเทศ

โดย รมช.ศึกษาธิการ ได้กล่าวแสดงความชื่นชมผู้บริหาร ครู และบุคลากรโรงเรียนเอกชน ที่ยังคงรักษามาตรฐานการจัดการศึกษาไว้เป็นอย่างดี โดยเฉพาะชั้น ป.6 ที่มีคะแนนเฉลี่ยสูงกว่าระดับประเทศทั้ง 4 วิชา (ภาษาไทย ภาษาอังกฤษ คณิตศาสตร์ และวิทยาศาสตร์) โดยได้มอบให้ สช.นำผลการวิเคราะห์การสอบ O-NET ครั้งนี้ ส่งให้โรงเรียนได้ใช้ประโยชน์ในการพัฒนาจุดเด่น และเสริมจุดอ่อนได้อย่างตรงจุด อาทิ วิชาคณิตศาสตร์ ในสาระการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลและความน่าจะเป็น การวัด ซึ่งเป็นวิชาที่มีคะแนนน้อยที่สุดทั้ง 3 ระดับชั้น, วิชาวิทยาศาสตร์ สาระดาราศาสตร์และอวกาศ ในชั้น ป.6, สาระแรงและการเคลื่อนที่ ในชั้น ม.3 และสาระกระบวนการเปลี่ยนแปลงของโลก ในชั้น ม.6 เป็นต้น

จากผลการสอบครั้งนี้ รมช.ศึกษาธิการ จึงได้มอบให้ สช. และ กศน. หารือร่วมกัน เพื่อขับเคลื่อนการเสริมสร้างการเรียนรู้ด้านวิทยาศาสตร์ และอวกาศ ในแหล่งเรียนรู้ของศูนย์วิทยาศาสตร์เพื่อการศึกษาทั่วประเทศ และท้องฟ้าจำลอง กรุงเทพฯ ที่มีองค์ความรู้ด้านวิทยาศาสตร์ ดาราศาสตร์ เพื่อพัฒนาการเรียนรู้ให้แก่นักเรียน
